I’m Taking a Break

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that I am taking a break from my monthly blog due to my schedule becoming too overwhelming. As a coach and intern level mental health counselor, it is important for us to practice what we preach across the board. That means making time for self-care, acknowledging our own feelings of overwhelm, and taking necessary steps to take care of ourselves.

This is not a permanent goodbye; this is just temporary as I finish the last 6 months of my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree.

I want to invite you all to check in with yourselves. Are you spreading yourself too thin with your commitments? Have you said yes to too many people?

If so, what do you need to do to correct your situation? What is the highest priority? What can wait?

When will you know you can start to add things back into your schedule? What are the signs? How will it feel? What will it look like?

We all have commitments we make, and things to do. That’s just part of being a human. Does every obligation need to be at the forefront of our lives at every moment? Certainly not. If we stop doing something, or lower the priority of something, does that mean it will be that way forever? Of course not. That’s what we call ‘all or nothing thinking.’

It’s okay to take breaks. It is okay to admit when there are feelings of overwhelm. It’s okay to readjust your schedule and priorities. We all need to do what we can to take care of ourselves. Sometimes that means we need to take time to rest. Sometimes that means taking time to refocus.

I’ll be back soon. If you need more check-ins, or find you are missing the monthly blog, reach out to me to schedule a coaching session.
